SCRIPTURE CAMP

Thanks so much for helping with Scripture Camp!! Ideas, blood, sweat and tears are all welcome!!

Our objective is to help the children feel like they have a basic understanding of where the different books of scripture originate, when they were written, and just have a sense of the "flavor" differences.

Of course another major objective is to have fun and fellowship together.

I would be transported to celestial realms if they also all knew the articles of faith and the names of the books of the individual books of scripture as well!

So... there is room for bonding, games, challenges, skits, crafts..  let us know your thoughts....

Our current plan is that the days will run something like this (not necessarily in the same order for each group):

Opening Flag ceremony and announcements

Cabins break for devotional and bonding activity

Focus Activity

Physical Challenge (small-group recap)

Lunch

Craft

Games/ Rec Time/ Water activities

Closing Ceremonies

Thursday we'll be travelling as families to the JS Birthplace and taking a hike.

Friday  we'll pitch tents for our cabins on my field, then we'll have activities, pool, bbq and closing games here.

I've put posts below breaking the structure up into different topics--feel free to send me an e-mail with a new post if you want to start a different thread, or comment on the ones below.  Thanks so much for your energy and your help!

  1. Hi! Hope I am posting in the right spot...maybe have a HUGE timeline in the gym. Events sorted on large poster board the kids then need to place in order...perhaps when there are skits the kids stand in that spot on the time line and then walk to the middle and start...

  2. Maybe we could reinforce this with a treasure hunt through time on the last day? You could even have the groups "split" during part of the hunt (BOM people leaving old word) and reuiniting after the coming forth of the book of Mormon in the modern (D&C) times.
